The breadth and depth of scientific progress in recent years has been beyond almost anyone’s imagination. There have been spectacular strides made in nuclear power, electronics and aerospace. Research into the very nature of atoms and molecules, the building blocks of matter, in other words research into the atomic nucleus, elementary particles and fusion involves a great deal of magnetic fields. They are also used in industrial applications, sterilization equipment, semiconductor crystal-pulling equipment and plasma equipment, while progress is also being made with magnetic fields in the relatively new field of biophysics.
For electromagnet equipment used in these fields, from fundamental atomic physics research and material science to medical and industrial use, high uniformity and high stability are of the utmost importance.
